On the day you will learn how to use a variety of spraying setups including HVLP spray painting to transform your customer’s furniture. You’ll find out the best time saving taping and masking techniques. Get advice on which sprayer would best suit your work and learn how to setup, clean and use your paint sprayer. You’ll go through setting up your sprayer’s pressure to get the perfect spray pattern. Learn the easiest way to tape and prepare your piece of furniture including how to spray tricky to reach areas. How to repair minor defaults as well as sanding and filling. What paints to use and how to mix them, how to achieve different finish levels and spraying onsite compared to spraying in your own workshop. Most importantly you’ll learn how to price your jobs and how to maximise your time and make more money – with less headaches!

Your trainer Jamie
Jamie has over 20 years experience in the decorating industry. Jamie started out as a traditional decorator brushing and rolling high-end domestics, before branching out into airless, kitchen and UPVC spraying.
By spraying Jamie managed to triple his income, get better jobs and spend more time at home. He’s now left the trade and works solely on Abode Academy, teaching others how they can do the same.

All of the equipment will be supplied for you to use on the day. Lunch will also be provided. All you’ll need to bring with you is your mask for spraying. And if you don’t have one, don’t worry – we always have masks available at the Academy for purchase on the day. Ideally decorators whites, but if you don’t have these then wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting messy!
We understand, things happen and plans change. If your course date is approaching and you’re unable to make the date we ask that you give us as much notice as possible. As long as enough notice is provided, we’ll be able to move the date for you. We will always do our best to move you to a more suitable date, however this isn’t guaranteed. The simple answer is no. If you work in a trade then your background will help but you don’t need to have any prior spraying or decorating experience to come on one of our courses.
The majority of our students travel +2 hours to come and see us. If this is you, you may want to book overnight accommodation. Depending on your budget, The Angel Hotel in Chippenham town centre is the nicest place to stay. It’s right in the town centre and has a nice swimming pool. If you’re looking for a more budget friendly option, we would recommend Travel Lodge Chippenham. It is a 15 minute drive from the Academy in the nearest town and is walking distance from supermarkets, convenience shops, pubs, bars and restaurants. It is also opposite a train station which you can use to travel to Swindon, Bath or Bristol if you plan to make a trip out of it and do some sightseeing.
You can give you trainer a call at any time to ask for ad vice. You’re never alone once you’ve done the training, the support is limitless. We also have an online version of this airless course which will be offered to you at half price. It is an e-learning platform with videos covering everything you would’ve gone through on the day. There’s a lot to take in on the day with setting up your machine, a lot of our students purchase the online course to follow along with when they’re back onsite and spraying on their own for the first time. We sell everything we use on the courses. If you’d like to you can purchase on the day or later on and we can ship to you direct. We also offer the option to preorder your equipment to set up with us, use on the day and then take away. As a student of the Academy, you’ll get the best deals from us on equipment.
We do offer a mobile training service. If you have a job coming up which would be ideal for learning on such as an empty property, you may want to book our mobile training service.
